Santa Barbara Reparations Council
A meeting to engage the reparations on a local level in Santa Barbara
What is reparations?
Yes it is monetary compensation, but it is more than that. It is:
- How we heal our bodies, the land, our relationships.
- The inequities of healthcare, housing, wages, legal protections, sovereignty, education, family support, and so many more injustices.
- What holds us back from making this healing possible and engaging with reparative justice.
The five satisfactory phases in a reparative process:
Reckoning
Re-education
De-monumentalizing
Undoing harmful policy
Truth telling
